We are not the arbiters of who is “correct” and “incorrect” in society. That being said, we are not here to facilitate assistance to just anyone who wants it.

So what falls within the boundaries of free speech and what runs into “forbidden” territory?

First off, our primary principle is taking a stance of moral agnosticism. Again, we’re not the arbiters of right and wrong. While we obviously have opinions like everyone else, in this capacity we have committed to being a neutral observer. We’re not here to judge if someone’s behavior is worthy of support, just to provide a venue where others are free to do so if they so choose.

Our other primary principle is that we believe free speech protects speech that hurts feelings, but not bodies. It is a personal responsibility to be nice to others, not a legal one. It is absolutely a legal responsibility to not physically harm other people. Likewise, should anyone suffer disproportionate consequences for speech that is considered to have “harmed” others when their physical wellbeing remains quite unperturbed, that will be grounds for support through this platform.

Continuing the thought of what constitutes “harmful” speech- or perhaps more to the point, “who?”- we believe speech does not get to be defined for all by the subjective interpretation of some. If someone has suffered disproportionate consequences from their speech due an individual (or individuals) taking measures to have their negative interpretation enforced via official decree, this is an acceptable basis to establish support on this platform.

Another acceptable basis to establish support on this platform is the unilateral removal from professional positions or media platforms due to implementation of vague, selectively enforced boundaries, such as “hate speech” and other content deemed to be unsuitable for the “safety” of others.

HOWEVER

We are not here to help those that break the law- obviously. Perhaps less obviously is we are also not here to help those who break clearly stated rules of a platform (or platforms). It is an inarguable truth that when using a private company’s service you must abide by their rules- regardless of whether or not you agree with them. We’re just here to help rectify when that reality is abused. You don’t get to deliberately breach user codes of conduct and expect to be compensated when you’re forced to face the consequences of your actions. Hate speech is a nebulous concept that can apply or not apply to a wide swath of legal speech- harassment isn’t. There’s a difference between voicing an unpopular opinion that draws disproportionate backlash and just being a dick then crying martyr. Don’t be that second guy.

Again- in our view, free speech is as close to sacred as possible. This includes dumb speech, bad speech, mean speech, and even dangerous speech. This does NOT include speech that actually advocates or incites physical harm to others. You’re allowed to hate people- you shouldn’t, but you are allowed to. You are NOT allowed to hurt someone- or incite others to hurt someone- as a result of that hate. Period.

People will try to skirt these humble outlines. There will be many of that “second guy” attempting to portray themselves like they are no such thing, such is the nature of the “second guy”. Without getting into too much detail at this point, we only wish to state the following: we care far too much about the first type of person- the type of person willing to risk personal damage in order to say what they believe to be true, not the type that merely tries to hurt others and get away with it- than to allow that second, shadier type of person to screw it all up. This won’t stop this type of person from trying. This type of person will fail.
